The most effective robot vacuum will clean and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It will also leave them spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum mop cleaner robot combo uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's best robot vacuum and mop that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot best automatic vacuum and mop and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart Robot Vacuum Cleaners Best uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum that mops vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
