The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
