They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra

It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
