Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He conducts tests and reviews of cleaning appliances. His main focus is mopping robots and vacuum combinations. Multitaskers are a great option for those looking to eliminate mopping from their list of things to do. They feature impressive mapping capabilities and obstacles-avoiding capabilities, and some wash and refill their own mopping pads for a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking for a robotic vacuum that also mops then this is the model to go for. It's smaller than other options, making it more maneuverable in tight corners or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar which, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, provides some of my favorite navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It's powered by a 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170 minutes if mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It will even return to the dock to replenish its battery midway through an efficient.
It's extremely fast and does an excellent job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It vacuums the carpeted rooms incredibly quickly and the hardwood floors in the hallways, and living room in a single pass. The suction motor's 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, droppings and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects rugs, and the dual side brush assists in removing debris from corners.
The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, is not as effective. The mop's rotating motor spins at a high speed and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scraping away dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a little more than other robots. This is useful when you're trying to get into narrow corners or on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to collect larger pieces of debris, such as books and toys that have been damaged.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've used. It doesn't produce the same amount of noise while vacuuming or mopping and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It's simple to install and is effective however, this is something that you'll have to be aware of if you're buying this robot vacuum solely for the reason of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most Robot vacuums That mop vacuums that mops in its class. It comes with a wide array of features that make it a great choice for homeowners who want a highly effective, versatile, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with a powerful cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This enables it to map out your home and identify furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean effectively and intelligently. This will ensure a thorough and consistent clean, while also being relatively quick.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad is capable of reaching many surfaces. This includes baseboards, corners and other difficult to reach places. They also come with a stretchy side brush that can be extended to reach the floor close to walls and other fixtures. In addition, the mop pads can be washed and dried to prevent build-up and reduce the smell.
Another notable feature is the customization options that are available through apps. The Q Revo lets you adjust the strength of suction and select between a back-andforth, or a more randomized pattern. You can also choose the number of passes which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can also choose to disable the side brush to avoid damaging carpets and rugs.
It's expensive, however it has many useful features. However, it's important to note that it incurs recurring costs, such as mopping supplies and maintenance. For instance, a brushroll needs to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pad needs to be replaced every one to three months.
The robot vacuum best vacuum that mops has an excellent rating on Amazon and offers a wide array of physical automation features. It has the power button that doubles as a general 'Clean' button and a 'Home button that will take it back to its base station once it has completed the cleaning process. It also has a multi-functional dock that automatically empties the dustbin, refills its water tank to mop and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be a good option for busy professionals or anyone looking to keep their home neat without spending too much time doing chores. It has powerful performance, smart navigation, and a long battery life that makes it easy to keep your home clean with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop that is, it can do both vacuuming and mopping. The robot is divided into two parts, a dry bin and water tank that can be snapped out and in and a mopping module that includes a microfiber pad. It's a little old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping, but it does mean you don't have to fret about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank with water.
Our testers found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its greatest feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it employs when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate easily between rugs, furniture, and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.
We also discovered that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up pet hair. It was able to capture a large amount of hair that our cats shed and even got into the nooks and crannies of our stairs, where other robots struggled. It was relatively quiet and even had some lovely jingles to indicated when it was starting or finishing its work.
The app was too simple and you had to change the modules each time you switched between vacuuming and mops. The app is not able to store multiple maps. This can be a problem if your home has several floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a ideal choice for people who want a device that can vacuum and mop.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive of our review. It does however, have some unique features which make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni is notable for its huge dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dustbin and an 2.5 liter dust bin.
The base comes with a few control buttons that allow you to manually start cleaning tasks or recall the robot, or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are concerned about their kids messing around with the vacuum.
The Omni Omni like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to detect obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will stay clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
This can cause the X1 to get stuck if it gets entangled in a blockage like the power cable that is draped over a rug. It will not work until you untangle it manually. This was a rare occurrence, but frustrating nonetheless, because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert on its application.
Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during the cleaning process. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad, except that the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between uses. This can lead to mildew and mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a big contrast to the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome appearance in a market that is dominated by bulky, boxy units.
