The S1 Pro's navigation and mapping capabilities are top-quality, with the internal dToF LiDAR system that allows it to keep the appearance of a slim profile while offering top-of-the-line object avoidance. It can drive up to walls and avoid steps without crashing. It also raises the mop automatically when driving on rugs or short-pile carpets. However, it struggled in the presence of longer-pile carpets and some long, thick messes of dried-on debris.
Like all robots like it, the S1 Pro comes ready to take off from the box and needs only a quick initial mapping run to get it used to your home. Once that's done the map will be displayed in the app and rooms can be added or combined when needed. You can also set up virtual boundaries areas, no-go zones and no-mop zones if you don't want the robot to get into certain objects.
The S1 Pro does a great job of cleaning up messes from hard floors due to its rotary mop head that exerts 2.2lbs (1kg) of downward pressure on the floor. Its ability to vacuum and mop makes it an excellent choice for homes that have two types of flooring. However, its dependence on Eufy cleaning solutions (which are included in the box) makes it less flexible than other robots which permit you to include your own cleaning solutions.
