1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best automatic vacuum robot vacuum with mop hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other best robot vacuum that mops vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
